Spotlight On: Harriet Allure
Clean Otter: Alex, thank you for joining us today! Harriet Allure has caught the attention of design enthusiasts and home fragrance lovers alike. The brand sits at a really unique cultural intersection—the warmth of Ghana, the precision of Germany, and Scandinavian minimalism. How did these three influences come together to shape Harriet Allure?
Alex Adu: Thanks so much for having me! Bringing Harriet Allure to life was really about bridging my own roots and aesthetic journey. Ghanaian culture brings an incredible sense of warmth, hospitality, and rich storytelling. Living in Germany gave me an appreciation for meticulous craftsmanship and structural quality, while Swedish minimalism taught me the beauty of restraint and clean lines. Uniting those three perspectives allowed us to create home fragrances and artisanal vessels that feel grounded, modern, and soulful all at once.
Clean Otter: The story behind the brand name is deeply personal, named after your mother, Harriet. Can you tell us how her influence defines the core philosophy of your products?
Alex Adu: Our core belief is that before we know the world, our mother is our very first home—a place of safety, warmth, and complete belonging. Harriet Allure was created as a tribute to my mother and to that universal feeling of comfort. We wanted our candles and incense collections—like Ama, Zenzi, and Tartu—to do more than just scent a room; we want them to transform a space into a sanctuary where you can pause, reconnect, and feel truly at home.
Clean Otter: Beyond the complex scent notes—like cardamom, amberwood, and fir resin—your candle vessels themselves are standouts, designed with reusability in mind. Why was vessel design and sustainability so central to your product lineup?
Alex Adu: To us, luxury has to be sustainable. Every vessel is designed with unique, organic contours—meaning no two are identical—so they serve as permanent architectural objects rather than single-use items. Once the candle burns down, the vessel transitions into a vase, brush holder, or keepsake pot. That commitment to reusability aligns with our desire to create timeless objects that remain part of a customer’s space long after the wax is gone.
Clean Otter: As Clean Otter looks to bring conscious, design-led luxury brands to boutique retailers, what makes Harriet Allure such a compelling partner for premium stockists?
Alex Adu: Retail partners are looking for products that tell an authentic story and create an emotional connection with the customer. Harriet Allure delivers on every level—from artisanal vessel design and sustainable reusability to high-end fragrance compositions like our Vetsak collaboration and incense line. We offer stockists a brand that stands out on the shelf visually while resonating deeply with conscious consumers who value craftsmanship, design, and emotional warmth.
